Mind of an Assassin

Setsuka’s bloodlust rivals that of Seishirou’s, as she thoroughly enjoys killing her victims. Their suffering brings her great joy, and she seems to believe their deaths are even sweeter when they wish for something other than death. Her hands are permanently marred with the odor of blood, though she doesn’t seem to care that this is so. In fact, there is probably nothing she cares about, except for the son she gave birth to.

Her adoration and infatuation with death is even further displayed when she speaks of her favourite flower, the camellia. To her, the sight of it dropping against the ground reminds her of a human head falling; sweeter is the image when snow covers the ground.

She smiles constantly, and laughs when it comes to death. Despite her apparent insanity, she is a rather wise and perceptive woman.

Viewing the Past

Not much is known about the life of the woman who gave birth to Seishirou, she remains out of her son’s life for nine years after he’s born. To properly train to become the Sakurazukamori, Seishirou had to be isolated from anyone that could give him affection; to be away from people who could possibly ‘pollute’ his mind with emotions. This form of schooling indeed caused Seishirou to be without emotions, it made him uninterested in knowing his mother and father. It had even caused him to see people in the same light as objects.

The first time the two met, it was within a room that confined Setsuka. Though, it didn’t matter to either one of them. Her first words to him were, “You’re my child.” Seishirou, who had been bred to be cold and calculating, responded affirmatively and he was kissed upon his cheek, and laughed. Before they parted ways, she revealed to him that he would be the one to slay her.

Their second meeting occurred when Seishirou was in Junior High, and the room Setsuka was kept in remained the same. This time, she told him that she loved him after he told her she was beautiful. Their conversation from this point on became rather strange, and eventually Setsuka bit Seishirou’s finger, drawing blood from his hand. Stating that she loved the scent of his blood, she requested a kiss from her son. Once again she proclaimed her love for him, and said that he would be the one to kill her.
